A macaron is a sweet meringue-based confection made with egg white, sugar, almonds and natural flavours.

Having just returned from a most delicious Autumn launch by Pierre Hermé, I can safely say that no other patisserie can compete with their macarons.  Their shop on Monmouth Street is a work of art – its extravagant rows of colourful macarons, stacked delicately in immaculate order, cover the spectrum of the rainbow and everything between. The macarons are light as a feather, with a soft, crunchy shell and a flavoursome melt-in-your-mouth centre and the packaging is beautiful.  By a long way Pierre Hermé’s macarons are the best and I’d thoroughly recommend them as the perfect dinner party gift or treat!
