My story started with redundancy in February 2016. Two months down the road my circumstances hadn’t changed. I was chasing a rainbow apparently – trying very hard to find a “non-classical” EA role.

One sunny day in April 2016 I received a call from Aldrich about a possible temp role. “Why not, I thought?  Maybe I can prove myself and the company will offer me a permanent job?” Aldrich clearly went to great lengths – they did not want to just “fill the position” – they wanted to fill it with the right candidate, who would be thrilled to work in their organisation.

I had an interview, I got the job. I was hired as an Executive Assistant to CEO then one month down the line … the CEO resigned!

Thankfully, the organisation does care about their people even the temporary ones and kept me on as a temp for the next 10 months. I was learning from the best experts in the industry in gorgeous offices in Knightsbridge.

There I was, trying to make myself useful, listen and learn and just be a good member of the team when the Bahrain office called HR looking to hire a Change Analyst, within the Strategy Management Office, permanently – and they thought I’d be the perfect fit.

Now I am here, in this magical, indescribable world. I am learning new things every day, I am surrounded by wonderful people, the sun is shining nearly 365 days a year and every day is an adventure and a gift.

And I am sorry for the cheesy quote here, but: “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning how to dance in the rain.” Believe in yourselves, work hard and keep dreaming! And you will certainly get to where you want to be!
