This week we saw  ‘The Greater Game’ at the Waterloo East theatre.

The Play tells the remarkable and true story of the 41 members of Clapton Orient (now Leyton Orient) Football Club who enlisted at the outbreak of World War I.

Perfectly fitting for this time of year, the play was moving, inspiring and uplifting and even more poignant to know we were sitting amongst audience members who had a personal connections to the real heroes on which the story was based.

It was clear was that in even in the face of overwhelming loss and with odds stacked highly against them the courage, comradery and friendship of the young men who went to fight for King and country mean this is a story that must continue to be told.
